Wilson Evolution or Evo NXT in Australia: compare size 7, cover and real offers
Compare a size-7 Evolution offer with Wilson Australia’s size-7 Evo NXT: actual listed prices, cover construction, indoor use and checkout conditions.
Updated:

1. Compare size 7 with size 7, then identify the seller
For an adult size-7 indoor ball, Tamworth Basketball Association lists a black Wilson Evolution Game Basketball at A$100, while Wilson Australia lists the orange Evo NXT Game Basketball size 7 (SKU WTB0965XB) at A$149.95. These are actual Australian offers checked on 30 October 2026, but from different sellers with different checkout and fulfilment paths. The A$49.95 gap is between displayed item prices only; neither offer establishes the delivered total to your address.
This comparison is deliberately size 7 on both sides. Wilson also offers a size-6 Evo NXT variant, but its A$149.95 price is not evidence that a size-6 ball meets a size-7 requirement. The generic side-by-side illustration cannot identify either real model or show a measured cover difference. Confirm the exact SKU or listing title before paying.
| Actual item and seller | Listed item price | Selected size and surface | Checkout limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Evolution Game Basketball Black, Tamworth Basketball Association | A$100 | Size 7; indoor | Association shop; delivery/collection terms require confirmation |
| Evo NXT Game Basketball WTB0965XB, Wilson Australia | A$149.95 | Size 7 / 29.5 in; indoor | Wilson checkout and address determine final total |

2. What Wilson actually says differs
Wilson’s own Evolution-versus-Evo-NXT explanation identifies the cover as the main difference. It describes the Evolution as having a premium microfiber cover and its familiar softer feel. The Evo NXT adds a Micro-Touch layer of texture designed to channel moisture away; Wilson also describes a Super Soft core and brighter orange finish. Those are manufacturer design and performance claims, not independent grip or shooting tests performed for this article.
The product names share “Evo” but should not be treated as the same ball with a new colour. If you already know the Evolution’s feel and want to replace like-for-like, check that your selected item actually says Evolution. If moisture-management design is your reason to switch, the Evo NXT is the one Wilson describes with the additional cover texture. The generated balls above do not depict those materials accurately.
3. Indoor suitability and competition rules are separate
Both compared listings describe indoor game balls. Do not infer outdoor durability from the generic pictures or from a shared basketball size. Tamworth’s Evolution listing repeats a US NFHS approval claim; that is not an Australian club’s automatic approval. Wilson’s Evo NXT listing and marketing discuss FIBA approval. An event can still specify its own model, size, marking or supplied game ball.
Ask the organiser which actual ball and size is permitted before buying for a named competition. If the purchase is for informal indoor practice, compare the confirmed size and material preference instead of paying for a certification you do not need. If the buyer needs size 6, repeat the comparison with both actual size-6 offers rather than carrying over the size-7 price table.
4. Check pressure and care using the actual ball
Wilson’s comparison article recommends 8 PSI for Evolution and 7 PSI for Evo NXT. That difference is a manufacturer recommendation in the article, not a pressure reading from either listed item. Read the instructions and marking for the exact ball you receive and use a suitable gauge; do not transfer the other model’s number. Overinflation or the wrong playing surface can change the result regardless of the listed cover claim.
The second image is an AI-created preparation scene with a generic ball, pump and blank gauge. It gives no inflation technique, measured pressure or proof of product identity. Use the actual supplier and manufacturer care guidance for the purchased SKU.

5. Choose or defer after the real checkout conditions
Example: a school replacing an existing size-7 Evolution for an indoor court may prefer the black Evolution offer if the association shop can fulfil its address and the familiar model is required. A club specifically seeking Wilson’s moisture-management design can investigate the size-7 Evo NXT offer. The A$49.95 displayed-item gap alone does not choose for either buyer because sellers, fulfilment and competition rules differ.
Open the exact listings, confirm size 7 and available stock, compare delivery or collection and any taxes at the final checkout, then check the event’s ball rule. If you cannot verify fulfilment or model approval, ask the seller or organiser for written confirmation before ordering. Neither an AI image nor a retailer marketing phrase substitutes for that check.
